Mary Karr admits in The Art of Memoir that she does not trust her “wiggly mind.” Yet memory is one of the primary tools of the memoirist. This session, for memoirists of all skill levels, will dive into the mysteries of memory, its reliability, and its tensions with truth.
Participants will learn about 4 ways to handle memory in a narrative and, if time allows, a solid 30-minute block of writing time based on instructor-provided prompts.
Additional note: Instructor requests that all participants answer this question prior to the workshop: How does memory play a role in your work/what interests you about the relationship between memory and memoir?
Please email responses to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Feb. 23.
