The Thomas Zvi Wilson Reading Series will commemorate the work of Thomas Zvi Wilson, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the Johnson County Central Library in Overland Park from 6-8 PM. Special guest readers will read Thomas’ work, and Jeanie Wilson will read correlating poems. Help us celebrate the 10th anniversary publication of The Door into the Dream, artwork by Thomas Zvi,  and his legacy.

Brian Daldorph teaches at the University of Kansas and Douglas County Jail.  He edits Coal City Review.

Gary Lechliter’s poetry has recently appeared in many journals and anthologies. His newest book of poetry, Off the Beaten Path, is published by Woodley Press.

Denise Low, 2007-2009 Kansas Poet Laureate, is author of Jackalope, short fiction (Red Mt. Press) and Melange Block: Poems. Her memoir Turtle's Beating Heart is forthcoming from the University of Nebraska Press in 2017.

After retiring from the University of Kansas, where she was known as a Melville scholar, Elizabeth Schultz began to write essays and poetry. In addition to her academic writing, she has published two collections of essays and five books of poetry and continues to discover the subjects for her writing in the light of ordinary day.

Robert Stewart is editor of New Letters and editor-in-chief of BkMk Press, at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.  His latest book of essays, The Narrow Gate: Writing, Art & Values, tolerates no clouded faces.

Maryfrances Wagner's newest books include Dioramas and Pouf.  Her book Red Silk was winner of the Thorpe Menn Book Award.  She is widely published and chairs the programming committee for The Writers Place as well as a co-editor for I-70 Review.

 

Jeanie Wilson is a poet and short story writer and curates the Thomas Zvi Wilson Reading Series. She co-authored The Door into the Dream with her late husband, Thomas.

Thomas Zvi Wilson initiated this reading series in 2001. The Writers Place cosponsors this series with the Johnson County Central Resource Library. Mr. Wilson’s objective was to broaden outreach for The Writers Place and create an additional venue for poetry and prose writers to read. After Thomas’ health failed, his wife Jeanie Wilson, an emeritus board member and poetry and short story writer, curates this popular reading series in his memory. The readings take place at the newly remodeled Johnson County Central Resource Library from 6-8 p.m. located at 9875 W. 87th Street in Overland Park, Kansas.
