GIVING YOUNG WRITERS A FUN FOUNDATION
This summer, The Writers Place hosts two week-long writing workshops for students aged 12-18. Students work with professional writers to explore various forms. Visits from published, professional writers will help students get a well-rounded view of what it means to live a writing life. Lessons will move through all stages of the writing process, from inspiration to drafting to revision to publication. At the end of each session, students will celebrate their accomplishments with a performance for family and friends. For ages 12-18. July 10-14 and July 17-21.
Week 1, July 10-14: Journalism and Nonfiction with Tyrone Gethers
Tyrone Gethers, Jr. is an educator with the Raytown School District where he teaches English/Language Arts. His love for students and teaching have has lasted for nearly two decades. Outside of teaching, Tyrone is a freelance writer that offers a range of literary services to a diverse clientele and a writer of non-fiction. Tyrone Just recently finished his first book. He also is the host of "The Source of the Inkwell", a radio broadcast on KUAW-LPFM 98.5 (KCMO).
