Lonita Cook is a writer, producer and film critic. She serves on the boards of CinemaKC and Kansas City Women in Film & Television as co-vice president and Chair of the KCWIFT/KCFilmFest Short Screenplay Contest. After studying acting at American Musical and Dramatic Academy (NYC) and Theater at UMKC, she began writing fiction and will release the first installment of her paranormal romance series, “The Chronicles of Cyn: Awaken the Sleeper” later this year. She lives in Kansas City with her two adorable daughters. Her motto: Stay Art Active!
José Faus is a native of Bogota, Columbia and a longtime resident of Kansas City. He is a multi-disciplinary artist and writer with degrees in Studio Art/Painting and Creative Writing/Journalism from UMKC. He maintains Carido Studio in downtown Kansas City, Kan. Faus is a co-founder of the Latino Writers Collective and sits on the boards of The Writers Place and the Latino Writers Collective. He was chosen by critics and readers’ choice as Pitch magazine’s “Best Humble Servant of the Arts.” He is a co-recipient of a Rocket Grant for the community project VOX NARRO. He is the 2011 winner of Poets & Writers Maureen Egen Writers Exchange Award and recently he was one of four recipients of the first annual “Gift of Faith Award” from the Regional Evangelical Alliance of Churches. His poetry chapbook, "This Town Like That," (Spartan Press) was released in July and will be available for order.
