Carl Bettis is a programmer and poet. His articles and poems have appeared in a number of literary journals, including The Same, Thorny Locust and I-70 Review, and in the anthologies Chance of a Ghost (Helicon Nine Editions, 2005) and The Whirlybird Anthology of Kansas City Writers (Whirlybird Press, 2012). He is an associate editor for The Same and he is on the Riverfront Readings committee. He lives in Kansas City with his wife, their daughter, one cat and two dogs. Gabriela Ybarra Lemmons received her MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Kansas. Her work appears in Primera Pagina:Poetry from the Latino Heartland, Cuentos: Stories from the Latino Heartland, New Border Voices: An Anthology, and other fine publications. A co-founder and current president of the Latino Writers Collective, Gabriela is also a Macondo Writers’ Workshop Fellow.
